New InformationInformation on non-surgerical procedures & over-the-counter products (see the FAQ and Medications pages).

New InformationMore information on the postop condition of retrograde ejaculation and its affect on postop sex (see the FAQ and What is TURP? and Share pages).

The purpose of this web site is to share patient-side information, support, experiences and tips for those who have had the TURP operation; those scheduled to have a procedure; those undecided about whether to have the surgery; and what others methods of treatment are available. This is done by providing an extensive "links" (References) page that offers directions for obtaining more information, a "Tips" page that gives a "lessons learned" list for those having the TURP procedure (or are the support someone who is), a Medications page listing normal post-op meds and over-the-counter herbal products, and finally a Questions and Answers page.

It has been the author's experience that medical facilities are increasingly moving towards providing TURP (or the other procedures) as an out-patient treatment with the patient being responsible for the recovery period.

However, there has not seemingly been a sufficient complementary increase in education or support for the patient to effectively deal with his own recovery. This site is intended to provide the education and support that a patient needs, to deal with this innately uncomfortable period of recovery, help others decide if the operation is appropriate for them, and if so, which procedure is best for their situation. We highly suggest you study all possible procedures before deciding on one.

This site solicits input from anyone with a desire to share their experience or knowledge of TURP with others. You can do so on the Share Knowledge page, or send email using the envelope icon below.
