Kailua (Kona is the area,
not the city) is where the action is, i.e. if you're not staying
in one of the $1,000+/night hotels along the Kohala Coast
(north
Kona).
It has several of
everything, including most every kind of culinary cuisine you might
want. Downtown is about 13 miles from house and the airport
is about 3 miles.
