Browser's are the programs/utilities that allow you to surf the internet.  It allows you to access the many websites on the internet, like websites for search engines, companies, libraries, governments, chat rooms, clubs and societies ... the list is endless...

Which Browser you use is a question of which one is easiest for you to use, does what you want it to and does not have lots of problems (bugs).   The list of available free browsers is long, with Netscape®, Internet Explorer
® (Microsoft®), Mozilla®, Opera®, w3m®, Lynx®, Firebird (Phoenix)®, Firefox®, Avant®, etc..

The most popular are Internet Explorer
® which comes included in the Windows Operating System and Netscape®.  Both of these can be customized to your liking and have email utilities, and other extras.   All these browsers come with internal help files and they also each have websites with more information and downloads.
