PC101-Personal
Computer 101
What's
the difference between a Mac and a PC?
Boy is this a subjective subject! Pretty much like the
animated icon above, this can be a tenacious issue for those on both
sides of the question. A PC is not a Mac and a Mac is not a PC,
although they are both types of computers.

Actually a Mac is the original "windows" machine, which right away is
probably getting me into lawsuit problems.
Let's just say that the two have different Operating Systems (OS) and
have two different ways of creating personal computers and how they
should be configured for the user (User friendly?).
Windows is of course the most common OS used in the world for PC's,
although their are other OS options for your PC, e.g. linux,
which is a generally free unix-style OS that has had programmers from
around the world working on and modifying. A lot of cooks in
the kitchen with this OS, which is kinda what happened to the Unix
OS too.
Mac users tend to love their machines and
despite its lack of software
and hardware compared to windows machines, they believe them to be
better than PC's.
If you have not used a Mac or PC before and are not concerned about the
lesser amount of supporting HW and SW with the Mac, then you could get
buy a Mac or a PC and learn either machine in about the same amount of
time.
