Another interest of mine is Amateur (Ham) radio. I received my license in 1982 and began operating as a General Class licensee with the call sign N5EOL. I upgraded that same year to an Extra Class with my current call sign of KZ5I.
Ham Radio is very enjoyable for me. My main interests are SSB and Digital modes on 80, 40 and 20 meters. I also enjoy QSO’ing with friends on the local 2 meter and 440 MHz repeaters.
I am a computer Network Analyst and Technical writer by profession and Ham Radio goes Hand in Hand with my work. When I am not in the Ham Shack I can usually be found pursuing Photography another favorite past time of mine. My equipment consists on a JRC NRD-515 and JRC NRD-535D receivers for casual listening and Kenwood TS-930 SAT and Kenwood R-820 receiver for working the HF bands.
