Dear District Ranger Ryberg:
I am writing you to follow up on my phone call with you last week requesting a "Cleanup Letter" be sent to the cleanup crew.
We discussed this initially at our May 8, 2003 meeting at your Evanston offices. It was also discussed as an important part of the process, and agreed to, at the Authorization signing on June 17, 2003 as recorded on videotape of that meeting with Acting District Ranger Hollingshead.
As a participant in the entirety of the cleanup process I personally had the opportunity to interact with your staff during the cleanup process and at both the preliminary and final walkthroughs. I heard your Resource Advisor Bernard Asay comment on the overall thoroughness and timeliness of the work done, as well as his expressions of satisfaction concerning the protection of the trout spawning areas, streambanks and archaeological sites. I listened to his Associate Resource Specialist Larry Johnson describe the excellence of some of the particular aspects of the rehab such as the watering of the trade circle terrain and bakery area before aeration of the soil. Further, I was able to see the news article in the August 1, 2003 Salt Lake City Tribune in which both you and your staff gave praise to the cleanup crew and overall rehabilitation of the site. I have no doubt that your Cleanup Letter for the Little West Fork Blacks Fork event will reflect those same sentiments.
Still, I await the Cleanup Letter as part of the closure of our proceedings. I believe that this letter needs to be addressed to the entire cleanup crew, and not to myself, Although I would be pleased to receive it by fax as well as postal service.
Sincerely,
