This is in response to your March 31 letter which you faxed to this office the morning of April 3.

Your letter indicates your intent to apply for a non-commercial group use authorization and conveys your hope that the special use permitting process will proceed as smoothly as possible. We, too, are hopeful this can occur and become an example for future events. We encourage you to submit a complete special use permit application for a large non-commercial group use gathering as soon as possible so that adequate time is available to work through the permitting process. Of critical importance to the process is the selection of a specific location.

Your letter also requested a meeting to discuss the 2003 national gathering, possible site locations, and the permit process. Unfortunately, the end of April, as you proposed, is unavailable for my staff. Lynn Bidlack, Regional Special Uses Coordinator (801-625-5141) will soon be calling you at the phone number listed in your letter to arrange for alternate meeting dates.
