Changed Rules : H3.1 The Terrain Table: Do not roll a die when consulting the chart - always use the lower of the two values given. (I really like the variable movement rates, but feel the additional die roll needed for the Terrain Table is not worth the time. Movement is already variable- I see no reason to make it double-variable.) H11.0 Interpenetration: An infantry or cavalry unit MAY pass through another friendly infantry or cavalry unit by conducting a Passage of Lines. One unit must remain stationary during the entire Movement Segment. The other unit may only move half its normal movement allowance. (Conducting a Passage of Lines is a normal brigade-level movement and I see no reason to prohibit it, although I do feel the movement penalties are appropriate.) I2.1 Direction of Contact: If a unit is contacted in the side/rear, do not change its facing until the end of the movement segment. (An attacker should not be able to force the defender to change face, simply by the order of moving his units. If the end result is an attack to both the front and flank, the defender will not change face.) J1.1 Falling Back Penalties: A cavalry or infantry unit may not fall back through more than one friendly unit. If there is enough space to place the unit falling back, between the first and second friendly units, then the two friendly units each lose one SP and the retreating unit loses two SP. If there is not enough space, such that the retreating unit is unable to pass through any friendly units, then only the first friendly unit loses one SP, and the retreating unit loses one SP. In all cases, if the retreating unit does not move at least 3" in its fall back move, then it loses and additional SP. (We experienced many strange situations where units fell back large distances, simply because of the requirement of continuing to fall back until there is open space. A unit located on the left flank of a Force, attacked on the flank, could fall back 15+" until it ended its move on the right flank of the Force. Huh???? With this rule change, a unit has a limited ability to pass through friendly units while in contact with the enemy. Otherwise, it will get ground in the dust, possibly along with a neighboring unit.) | ||||
